So close to New York!

28 Aug 2008 In: Uncategorized

Day something-or-other and I’m getting prepped for the final miles of our trip! Looking back on what we have done so far, I’m extremely pleased we made it to New York with at least one scoot, and I look forward to be heading back home to my family and friends.

We’ve had a ton of fun. From crazy mayhem on the road, to meeting really neat people as we stopped along the way. I also found out what happened to my scooter when it broke down just 30 miles out of our trip! (Apparently, the big rod of the piston snapped and a ball joint in there wasn’t lubricated. The oil pump is to blame we suspect…)

All this aside, I’ve finally had a chance to ride all three scooters. My Julia doesn’t have much to say considering that she broke down so early. As for Stella (Dustins scoot), She was a fine scoot when I was riding her. Having only one mirror was quite the killer though. Shirley (Mikes scoot) was a very different scooter, but in a good way. She handles well, runs smoothly, and I got to admit… The blue color is starting to melt my heart. The only thing I could think of that was wrong with her was the seat was a little too worn in and hurt my booty.

We have been having a good time, and though we have been arguing alot, I think it’s because we are so close to the Checkpoint at New York. As Dustin said before, Mike and I went at it last night. It wasn’t pretty. But I think we both said what bothered us and I hope we can enjoy the rest of the trip!

About this blog

It all started in 2007, with a friend driving from Minnesota to Utah to grab his scooter. Once Dustin Saunders reached Utah, he rode his scooter back to Minnesota with nothing but his friends and the will to drive it back against all odds. In 08' Dustin, Michael, and Sean embarked on a 3000+ mile trip unscathed. Ever since then, we travel in the name of adventure to the most epic places in America.
